Resonance

So, i have just recently watched the movie Step Brothers. Iwas laughing throughout the whole movie and i really enjoyed it. I really think its one of the best movies with will ferrel. He is such an awesome actor. Anyways, i actually was able to find some physics in the movie. What i observed is based on sound waves. So basically, sound needs a medium to travel and so in this case, the sound is traveling by the air or atmosphere. In the video, i noticed that resonance occurs. However, it all starts with natural frequencies. Two factors which determine the natural frequency of an object are elasticity and the shape of the object. An object composed of an elastic material or any material will vibrate when disturbed at its own special set of frequencies. Whe the frequency of forced vibrations on an object matches the objects natural frequency (ice sculpture) a dramatic increase in amplitude occurs, which is the definition of resonance. So when this happens the object may explode if the the frequencies become too great creating too great of an amplitude as shown in the video (towards ending).
